Safe Church Training Starting New Program Year

Are you interested in being Safe Church Certified or need to renew your Safe Church Certification?

This past spring 2026, the Diocese introduced a new approach to Safe Church training. Safe Church is an important part of how clergy and lay leaders are equipped to recognize risks, establish healthy boundaries, and help foster environments in which everyone can participate fully and safely.

All clergy and lay leaders, including those who serve in decision-making roles or work with children, youth, or other vulnerable populations, are required to complete a background check and maintain current Safe Church certification, renewed every three years.

The updated training process uses online courses developed by The Episcopal Church through Praesidium Academy. Participants complete a series of brief courses online, at their own pace, followed by a 90-minute virtual or in-person Integration Session.

All leaders complete four online core courses, with an additional two to four online courses assigned based on their particular ministry or leadership role.

If you are interested in taking courses for Safe Church Certification or if you are up for renewal, you can reach out to Lee Mullins or the church office for more information on how to register.
